MANTIS MIMICRY 2019
Mantis Mimicry is a video triptych meant to explore the adaptive mimicry of praying mantids. This project developed through my interest of how organisms evolve to camouflage into their environment as a means of survival. The praying mantids are set in a space with a mirror, adding a literal "mirroring" aspect to the piece. The mantids not only mirror the environment that they are native to, but they also mirror themselves in the videos. During the installation, the three videos are played simultaneously through three channels. The audio for the three channels is connected to a single headphone.
